Pattern.

For this assignment we had to take pictures of patterns. The first picture is a picture of  my moms journal. There is pattern in the feathers of the peacock. The next picture is of my kitchen cupboard. The lines of the cupboard create a pattern. And the final picture is of a cactus. There is a pattern in the rows of prickers. And the prickers themselves form a sort of pattern.

BUBBLES!!

For this assignment we had to take pictures of people blowing bubbles. I am never home when it is still light out so I had to take these pictures indoors. They probably would have turned out better if I was able to take them outside, but these will have to work. We discovered that my dog, Ramsey, loves bubbles. He was eating them the whole time we were trying to take pictures.

Grid Picture

I spent A LOT of time working on this... I am kind of a perfectionist so just doing random squares would have drove me nuts. So, on my face and body I did a checkerboard pattern using rainbow colors in rainbow order. For the background I used bigger square and just stuck to black and whit so my face stands out  more. I probably used each filter at least once. I think it turned out pretty good.

A Day in the Life of Dessa...

This is a typical day in my life. First I wake up around 7:20. That is my "I just woke up" face. Next, I brush my teeth. Then I usually put on a little make up. Then I put on deodorant and my hair gel to tame my wild hair. Next I squirt on some perfume. I have like 50 different kind of perfumes, but my choice for this day was "Glam Goddess". Next I have a little breakfast, usually a bag of Breakfast on the go or a granola bar. Then I take my morning pills. Then it is time to head out to school in my mini van. Once I get to school I go to photography with Cody. Then I have a bunch of other classes such as chorus and calculus. I took a picture of my phone because I pretty much use it all day everyday. Next, it is time for track practice- one of my favorite parts of the day. I throw shot put and discus. It is fun. Next I usually go home or hangout with my boyfriend, Austin. Then it is homework time... I usually do homework about once a month.. Then I start getting ready for bed. I usually shower at night and brush my hair and put on lotion. Then it is time for my night time pills. Then my favorite thing to do ever... SLEEP. :)

....I suppose I forgot supper and lunch. I eat those usually sometime in my day......

Light and Shadow.

Better late than never...

I think this picture is pretty interesting. I like the repetition of the lines. I also like how the grass is kind of growing around this wheel thing.

This is a picture I took in our kitchen sink of our drainer. I think it looks really neat because there is a double shadow. The primary subject would be the shadow.

I took this picture because I thought the shadow of the chair and plant looked neat on the wall.

Arboretum!!

Last Friday we went to the Arboretum to snap some photos. I took like 160 pictures. It was hard to narrow it down. But, these were my favorites.

I really like how Cody is out of focus in the back and the tree and the creepy bug are so in focus. I like the neat design on the tree also. I did not edit this picture at all.

I think this picture is pretty neat. I just put my camera up against the tree and shot up. I think the narrow depth of field is pretty cool.

I love the colors in this picture. I like how the acorns contrast with the bright green grass.

I thought this tree was very neat how the wood was split. I converted it to black and white to make it look more dramatic.

I like the lighting in this picture. I like how there is just one little plant poking out of the ground.

This picture is interesting. I like how you can see an ant coming out of the ant hill.

This is a picture of some tree bark. I thought all the layers were really neat. I converted it to black and white because color really didnt add to the picture.

Details

These are my pictures for detail.

I thought this photo was very interesting. It was a dead tree branch with some orange mold or something growing on it. I probably should've cropped this picture. But I really like this photo.

This photo is of a bird house. I like how detailed the wood looks. I think this is a pretty decent shot.

I really really like this shot. I wish it was clearer though. It isnt very in focus. This photo was taken of spme fungus growing on a dead tree. I cropped it down quite a bit.

Spring!

These are my photo journalism photos for spring. They are unedited because a photo journalist is not allowed to edit photos. I'm not really sure what were supposed to write about these...

I really like the color of this photo. I love how the purple flower stands out so much. I think this photo is journalistic because it depicts spring and it is kind of dramatic in a way.

I was struggling to find another photo for this assignment. I took this one in our garden. I think it is a pretty good journalistic shot. It shows spring and the beginning of gardening.

Warmth..

Okay, so I know that fire is the most obvious way to do warmth. But its not sunny out today and I really need to get this assignment done and my creativity level is low today. So I took some pictures of the gas burners on our stove. I think they turned out pretty interesting.

I think that this one is neat because it is very symetrical and looks like a flower. I like how the blue and black are very contrasting.

BEST OF....

For this assignment we had to post our animal morph, our favorite ice shot, and one of our other favorite shots so far.

Ice

The weekend assignment was to take pictures of ice. However, the weather here is getting pretty nice so there isn't really ice outside anymore. But one of our hoses sprung a leak and has been misting out water for quite a while. The water froze in some pretty neat patterns.

I think this picture is pretty neat because of the big hole in the ice. I like how crystal-like the ice looks.

Aperture:f/2.8
Focal Length: 4.3mm
ISO Speed: 400

I couldn't tell if I liked this picture better in black and white or in color so I posted both. This picture has some repetition of diagonal lines. I like the texture of the ice.

Shutter: 1/60
Aperture: f/2.8
Focal Length: 4.3mm
ISO Speed: 400

I like how clear and sharp the ice is in this picture. And I love the beautiful sunset in the background with the contrast of the trees.

Shutter: 1/160
Aperture: f/2.8
Focal Length: 4.3mm
ISO Speed: 400

I thought this picture was interesting because of the way the ice is melting. There is almost a perfect circle exposing the grass. I like the contrast between the bright green ice and the ice.

Depth of Field

This week our assignment was to take pictures using different settings to create different depths of field.

This picture is an example of narrow depth of field. Only about an inch is in focus. I like this picture because all the spirals around the cord look neat. I converted it to black and white to make the background less distracting.

Shutter: 1/60
Aperture: f/2.8
Focal Length: 4.3mm
ISO Speed:100

This photo is an example of medium depth of field. Only a foot or two is in focus. I like how the snow kind of makes a neat pattern in the snow.

Shutter: 1/320
Aperture: f/2.8
Focal Length: 4.3mm
ISO Speed: 80

This picture is an example of wide depth of field. All of the trees in the background are pretty sharp. I don't really like this picture but I think it is the best example I had of wide depth of field. I converted it to black and white because the color was not helping it much.
